A demonstrator shot on Saturday in Salt Lake City during the “No Kings” protest was one of many examples of violence across the country related to the cause over the weekend. The Uintah County Republican Party distributed a press release on Sunday denouncing political violence and calling for civil discourse. The statement reads, “The Uintah County Republican Party stands united in condemning the recent acts of political violence that have shaken communities across our nation. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims whose lives were senselessly taken in the heinous shootings in Minnesota. We affirm, without hesitation, that violence has no place in our political discourse. While we may differ passionately in our views and advocate with conviction for the causes we believe in, those differences must never be a justification for hatred or harm. Our strength as a nation lies in our freedom to disagree—and in our shared responsibility to do so with respect, humility, and courage,” it continues. “In the face of tragedy, we must come together not only to mourn but to recommit ourselves to the values that unite us: peace, civility, and unwavering respect for life. We must be examples of the Republic we cherish—where debate is vigorous, voices are heard, and every life is treated with dignity.”
