The Uintah County Republican Party Central Committee has submitted a name to the Uintah County Commission for a replacement of Mike McKee whose final day in office was March 2nd. The name submitted is Duane Shepherd who was among the candidates that ran for Mark Raymond’s Commission seat in 2016. According to the Committee’s letter addressed to Commissioners Bill Stringer and Brad Horrocks, the Committee received letters and resumes from 22 individuals and after extensive review, selected 5 of the applicants to interview. The Committee delivered the letter to the Commission on Wednesday and the Commission has up to 5 days to accept the appointment. It is anticipated the Commissioners will address the appointment during Monday’s Commission meeting. The Uintah County Republican Party Central Committee is tasked by state law to fill the vacancies of elected offices held by Republicans at the County level. The Committee followed Republican Party bylaws and Utah State Code in developing a professional process for selecting a name, advertising for the position, and reviewing all applications before making a decision of who they believe best represents the Republican Party.
