Thanks to cutbacks and careful budgeting, Uintah County remains in a strong financial position. Uintah County Clerk/Auditor Mike Wilkins presented on the County’s financial state during Monday’s Commission meeting. After a close review of the County funds, Wilkins announced that 2016 revenues exceeded expenditures by approximately $900,000 dollars. “We still have a very strong fund balance and remain in a good financial position,” shares Wilkins. “We had departments kick in and do what was requested. They made budget cuts and even throughout the year we asked them to find ways to cut back and by doing so we are looking at the $900,000 dollars over expenditures.” Wilkins emphasized that the County will continue to be conservative but finances are stable and any rumor otherwise is unfounded.
