If you’ve ever wanted to participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short) at the Uintah County Library, you’ll be in good hands! Pamela Sroka has been taking on the NaNoWriMo challenge since 2008 and this year she is in charge of the library’s event. So what is it? National Novel Writing Month takes place each November and participants use the 30 days of the month to try to write 50,000 words or more on a personal writing project. Over 300,000 people participate worldwide each year and there are always success stories of those who get published, like the popular book ‘Water for Elephants’ by Sara Gruen. Sroka says the Uintah County Library holds NaNoWRiMo events each year to promote literacy. “We do it to help people get their stories written,” shares Sroka. “There is always someone, somewhere wanting to write a novel and NaNoWriMo is the perfect time to start. It brings a group of people who love writing together for a month of craziness. It reminds people that they’re not alone in this crazy journey of writing a novel.” As part of NaNoWriMo, Uintah County Library is hosting weekly meetings every Wednesday at 7 pm during November for Write In’s and all things NaNoWriMo. Join the fun!
