The earliest quilted garment depicted goes back to Pharaoh of Egypt’s First Dynasty around 4300 BC, an ivory carving of his likeness showing the garment. In Mongolia a quilted floor was discovered in 1924 that was dated between 100 BC to 200 AD. Of course quilts were a part of colonial America since its beginning. With such a rich history it is fitting that the Uintah County Heritage Museum is displaying local talent with the Quilter’s On the Edge display this month. The show is currently at the museum and will be there until the end of the month. One thing will certainly stand out to even the untrained eye and that is the amazing talents of the different quilters. The public is invited to come vote as there is a people’s choice winner and a kid’s choice winner.
