It’s official. The Uintah County Heritage Museum has a new name. During the regular Commission meeting held on Tuesday, the Uintah County Commission approved the renaming to the ‘Museum of Uintah County’. Uintah County issued a release, sharing that this is a change that reflects the museum’s expanded vision, offerings, and role in the community. The decision was made following coordination with the Museum Advisory Board and input from the public. “The museum is more than just saddles and rifles,” shares Karen England, Director of the Uintah County Library, who oversees the museum. “We have dynamic programming, expert-curated art and exhibits, and a mission to educate and engage visitors with the full depth of our region’s history and culture.” The museum also plans to introduce a new website and a modern logo, developed with public feedback through online polling. Uintah County’s announcement stated that “these updates are part of a broader effort to modernize the museum’s image while honoring the unique stories and history of Uintah County.” To learn more, visit www.UintahMuseum.org.
