Uintah County has Uptick In Job Counts Despite Economic Slowdown

In a year of downturn, Uintah County was able to add 236 nonfarm jobs in the second quarter of 2018. According to the Utah Department of Workforce Services, despite the down trend of oil and gas jobs, a significant number of jobs were added in leisure/hospitality and trade/transport/utilities services. The Workforce Services report says what San Juan County lost, Uintah County gained with shifts in work locations. Though unemployment remains slightly up in Uintah County it still remains at the lowest level in three years. Over all, the job counts for United States is up 1.7%, up 3.3% in Utah and up 1.8% in Uintah County.
