Uintah County Encourages Public To Beware Of Scam Letters

Scams can take just about any form, including the good ol’ fashioned letter in the mail. Uintah County announced last week that citizens have been receiving scam letters that demand payment of taxes and that the property will be seized if not paid. “These letters are not being sent from Uintah County or the State of Utah,” shares Uintah County. “In fact, the office listed on this letter does not exist.” So what should you do if you receive a letter like this? Simply discard the letter and DO NOT contact the number provided. Uintah County shared that they are grateful to those who brought the letter to their attention and encourages anyone who receives this type of letter, email, or phone call to contact the county to verify the information and to report the fraudulent activity. If you want more information, contact the Uintah County Public Information Office at 435-781-6767.
