Uintah County Election Results

Preliminary election results are in. Uintah County had a 38.46 percent voter turnout with 5,105 ballots cast out of 13,273 registered voters. Proposition 5 failed in Uintah County with 41.15 percent voting FOR the transportation tax to 58.85 percent voting AGAINST it. In the Vernal City Mayor race, Doug Hammond received 863 votes for nearly 65 percent while Sonja Norton received 471 votes for 35 percent. Two open Vernal City Council seats will remain filled by Bert Clark and Ted Munford. Naples City Mayor Dean Baker ran uncontested. Incumbents Robert Hall and Dennis Long maintained their seats on Naples City Council. The race for Ballard City Mayor was extremely close with Robert Abercrombi receiving 63 votes for 50.81 percent and Tom Nordstrom receiving 61 votes for 49.19 percent. Uintah County Clerk Auditor Mike Wilkins said this is considered a good year for voter turnout for a non-presidential election year. Uintah County canvassing will be held
on November 14th.
