Commissioners approved the 2017 Uintah County budget during Monday’s Commission meeting. Clerk/Auditor Mike Wilkins presented the total budget of $80,717,900 dollars that covers the entire operation of Uintah County. As presented during the 2017 Preliminary Budget hearing in November, the 2017 General Fund totals $20,605,200 dollars, down just over $2 million dollars from 2016 and a decrease of $5.2 million dollars from 2015. Revenues from total taxes equal $11.9 million dollars which is a decrease from 2016 of over $1 million dollars. No raises were included in the budget with the exception of milestone increases for completing certifications such as POST for law enforcement officers. Commissioner Mike McKee has noted that the County is very sensitive to downturn in the economy and has worked hard to lower the budget.
