In keeping with FAA requirements, the Uintah County Commission approved a bid to see work move forward on the airport wetland mitigation project. According to Justin Marchant with GDA Engineers, 3 bids were received for wetland construction about 5 miles south of Jensen on Redwash Road. BHI offered the lowest bid at $227,840.34 and was approved by the Uintah Transportation Special Service District last week.

On Monday

, the Commissioners approved the construction contract for signatures. The Commissioners emphasized that it is important for work to get underway because otherwise work on the airport runway project will cease. “This is an assurance we gave to the FAA that this will be taken care of so we could get back to work,” shared Commissioner Stringer. The project will establish new and enhanced wetland sites to about 9 acres of ground in Jensen to compensate for wetland acreage lost as part of the airport runway construction project. The cost of the wetland mitigation project is 95 percent refundable by the FAA.
