Uintah County Attorney Mark Thomas resigned from public office this week. The Uintah County Attorney’s Office confirmed to NewsTalk KVEL on Thursday that Thomas submitted his letter of resignation to the County on Monday, effective immediately. The Uintah County Attorney’s Office also explained that state law provides continuity in situations like this. The senior Chief Deputy, which in this case is Jonathan Stearmer, becomes the Temporary Manager of the County Attorney’s Office. The County Commission can begin the appointment process to fill the vacancy. However, because of time constraints before the new term begins, the County Commission has decided to forgo the appointment process and proceed under the statute with a Temporary Manager until Gregory Lamb is sworn in
on January 7th.
