The final concert for the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra has a musical lineup that is sure to impress. The group will be performing pieces selected from Mendelssohn and Vivaldi string suites, Percy Jackson’s Molly on the Shore, and a special arrangement of Over the Rainbow by Utah composer Andres Paredes. Andres is a popular LDS composer that has written programs for the LDS conference center in Salt Lake City. He is expected to be in attendance at the youth’s upcoming concert. It’s been an amazing year for the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra. The group was adopted by the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus in November, have performed two concerts to excited crowds, and are preparing for a combined tour with the Utah Valley Youth Symphony to San Francisco in June. “The youth participate in UBYCO to gain knowledge and skills necessary to join UBOC by learning standard repertoire and technique of great music,” shares organization co-director Brad Vanfleet. “UBYCO consists of 22 talented young string players, 5 of which are members of UBOC. This has been an exciting and successful season.” The community is urged to come enjoy their final concert of the season on Saturday, May 27th at 7:00pm at the Vernal Middle School.
