Fire sense is common sense. The trick is just using it. State and local agencies are reminding the public to use that fire sense as wildfire season heats up. You already know heat or sparks plus dry grass equals a whole lot of trouble, so the next time you’re camping or shooting or otherwise enjoying the great outdoors in the Uintah Basin and beyond, use your brain before things get too hot to handle. If individuals exercise fire sense it is possible to prevent roughly 70% of Utah wildfires. The four areas of focus are vehicles, campers, shooting and fireworks. When it concerns vehicles, be sure to secure trailer chains so they do not drag and spark, never park a hot car or recreational vehicle in dry grass, make sure all appropriate equipment have spark arrestors and be sure trailers and RV have been properly maintained, including tire pressure. If the above steps are followed it will prevent nearly a quarter of Utah’s human caused wildfires.
