Uintah High School was a hub of families eager to feel the Christmas spirit through beautiful music on Saturday and the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus certainly delivered. The organization’s annual Christmas concerts are comprised each year of traditional and non-traditional Christmas music performed by a full orchestra, choir, and children’s choir. Dancers from Studio R also add to the experience during select songs where they perform in the front of the stage and the aisles. The concerts were conducted by Dr. Cory Evans, the Director of Choral Activities and Choral Music Education at Utah State University. The children’s choir melted hearts singing ‘When Christmas Comes To Town’ from the Polar Express. The orchestra and chorus’ rendition of ‘White Christmas’ combined with the beautiful dancers was a crowd favorite of the night. “It’s such an honor for me to come down here,” shares Dr. Evans, who travels from Logan to participate in his role as Conductor and Artistic Director. “I love the energy that’s in the room and that the whole community comes together on this. I also like that we collaborate with dancers and have the children’s choir and you can’t get that any other time of year. It’s just great to feel the warmth of the community come together literally, when it is freezing outside, but figuratively too, as everyone comes together and enjoys the music.” To learn more about UBOC and upcoming concerts, visit www.ubocmusic.org
