The Uintah Basin Narcotic Strike Force was recognized last week at the annual Utah Narcotics Officers award ceremony held in Mesquite, Nevada. The Strike Force was awarded the State of Utah Special Agency Award which is issued to agencies that show significant motivation and dedication to the eradication of illegal narcotics. The Strike Force is comprised of multiple law enforcement agencies in the Basin. “Throughout the last year,” shares Sgt. Mike Gledhill, “members of the Strike Force conducted numerous investigations into illegal narcotic activity taking place in the Uintah Basin. Those investigations resulted in numerous Misdemeanor and Felony drug arrests.” Crime Scene Technicians Kimberly Kay with Naples City and Katie Williams with Duchesne County were specifically recognized at the award ceremony for their assistance on warrants executed throughout the year. The Commendation award which they received is given to individuals other than peace officers that have made a significant contribution to narcotic enforcement.
