A Uintah Basin man was sentenced on Wednesday to 46 months in federal prison after pleading guilty earlier this year of illegally possessing a gun and killing ten eagles. According to court documents, 54-year-old Michael Earl Yellow killed and kept a minimum of 10 golden or bald eagles during 2014 and 2015 as well as having a rifle which was not allowed as he is a convicted felon. Eagles are no longer on the endangered species list but it is still against federal law to shoot, kill, possess, sell, or transport a bald or golden eagle. A KSL report states that Yellow will serve his prison time in Colorado, Arizona, or Florida.
