Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center on West Raven Fire and Three New Starts

Crews continued work on the West Raven Fire burning south of Highway 40 near the Utah/Colorado border on Thursday. According to the Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center, the fire started Wednesday and is burning in grass, brush, pinion, and juniper 5 miles south of Highway 40 on the Old Bonanza Highway. It grew from approximately 250 acres of Wednesday to 317 acres on Thursday and was reported at 85 percent contained. The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation. The Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center also reported several small new starts, one in the Bookcliffs, one north of Whiterocks, and one east of Neola.
