We may be in for a long winter and this week’s weather has warranted taking the steps to get vehicles winter ready. Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Kellie Oaks has several suggestions. “We’d encourage everyone to get snow tires,” shares Sgt. Oaks. Yes you heard that right. Snow is already a concern as the mountains throughout the region have been hit with several inches of it in the last week. Sgt. Oaks also encourages drivers to check the air pressure of their vehicle’s tires and also increase their following distance. In addition to preparing your vehicle, be sure to stay aware of the weather by listening to forecasts, road reports and storm warnings. Be sure to tell someone where you are going and when you are expected to return. Stay in your vehicle if stuck or lost in a winter storm, and keep a winter car kit in your vehicle.
