It’s the final day of the week long 2018 UGIC conference at the Uintah Conference Center. UGIC is the Utah Geographic Information Council and the attendees at this year’s conference have enjoyed educational events around the valley including time at Dinosaur National Monument. Several of the attendees took the opportunity to teach local students during the USU-Uintah Basin Earth Observation Day. USU’s Chris McGinty taught students about the tools used to study the earth from air and space, David Henrie taught students about map making and online data display, and University of Utah’s Phoebe McNeally taught the science of global positioning systems used for data collection and navigation. All three were in town attending the Utah Geographic Information Council conference which wraps up today.
