*** UDOT contacted Evans Family Media with an update Wednesday afternoon that there was an incident last week with a flagger who was checked out by a Doctor and then returned to work later that day.***
The construction on 500 North in Vernal is getting plenty of attention on social media as community members share concerns and complaints about the way it is set up and alleged accidents and near-accidents that have occurred. UDOT representative Geoff Dupaix shared with Evans Family Media that UDOT has not been able to verify what was being shared on social media, specifically a claim that a flagger had been hit twice last week. UDOT is aware, however, of the concerns and claims posted on social media and is in contact with the safety team. UDOT also shared that paving operations along the main section of the road on 500 North is scheduled to continue through October 8th and once that work is complete, crews will begin finish-work at the various intersections along the roadway. It’s expected the project will be complete in mid-November.
