The Uintah Basin is filled with personal stories of how Uintah Basin Technical College has helped individuals find a way to provide for themselves while sharing their skills. Last week was UBTech Giving Week, an event to raise money for scholarships at UBTech. To put it in perspective, UBTech explained that every $10 donated equals five hours of instruction for a student. People could visit the UBTech Facebook page and watch videos featuring many students that have benefited from the scholarships the school offers. The community came together with local businesses like TJ’s Tire Pro, Vernal Brewing Company, Big O Tires and Frontier Grill and Motel, to name a few, hosting orange socks to raise money. Business owners offered personal challenges to other business owners to donate. Although final numbers have not been announced, as of December 10th, a little over $21,000 dollars was raised.
