UBTech’s President, Aaron Weight, has announced the 1776 Service Challenge, inviting all community members across the Uintah Basin to come together and celebrate the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday. Drawing its name from the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, individuals of all ages are encouraged to contribute to the goal of 1,776 hours of service given prior to July 4th, 2026. “The Uintah Basin is home to some of the most service-minded people in the world,” shares Weight. “I’m confident our community will not only reach 1,776 hours, but very likely surpass it multiple times.” Everyone in the Uintah Basin is invited to track the progress online, and submit their service hours at www.ubtech.edu/1776-challenge. Participants may enter up to 10 hours per submission, with an optional opportunity to describe the service they provided. Individuals, families, groups, and organizations can easily enter their service hours and view the community’s progress toward the shared goal.
