UBTech welcomed over 350 guests from tech schools around the state during a conference held at the Vernal campus earlier this month. According to a UBTech press release, UBTech was chosen for the conference because this year marks the 50th anniversary of technical education in the state of Utah and it all started in the Uintah Basin. “When hosting came up as a discussion in a President’s Council meeting a few years ago, I extended the invitation to all of the colleges to come visit the Uintah Basin for the 2018 conference,” shares UBTech President Aaron Weight. “It was fitting for us to be the host during our 50th anniversary year.” Many conference attendees extended their stay in the Uintah Basin and reportedly had a wonderful time. “It’s been 25 years since my last visit to the Uintah Basin,” shared Mark Aiken, Vice President of Instruction at Tooele Technical College. “My wife and I went to Moonshine Arch, visited Jones Hole Fish Hatchery, and the McConkie Ranch…We saw more wildlife during our short stay than we have seen in years.” President Weight considered it a great privilege to host the conference during the school’s 50th anniversary year.
