Great news from Uintah Basin Technical College! They have secured legislative funding to expand the Nursing Assistant and Welding programs in response to student demand and industry needs. “Students who take the summer off have a low rate of continuing their training in the fall,” shares Vice President of Instructional Services, Mark Dockins. “Continuing offerings for the summer will increase the completion rate for our students.” The Nursing Assistant program is available at the Roosevelt campus this summer. This fall, an additional evening option will be offered at the Vernal campus. The welding program offerings will expand in September in both daytime and evening hours to 12 months a year at both campuses. “By expanding our daytime and evening hours, we will give students more time in the UBTech Training Centers sponsored by Norco Inc. & Miller Electric to be able to finish a certificate in the summer,” explains Executive Advisor of Instruction Tammy Wilkerson. Plans also include future course expansion of automotive, civil technology, CDL, and more. To learn more about the UBTech master plan, visit www.ubtech.edu/masterplan.
