Recently, Uintah Basin Healthcare earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR certification. Through the efforts of the Engineering staff, the UBH facilities perform in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meet strict efficiency performance levels set by the EPA. Commercial buildings that earn this certification use an average of 35 percent less and release 35 percent less carbon dioxide then similar buildings.“Even though this is the first year being recognized, we have been achieving these high standards for many years,” shares UBH Director of Engineering Marlin Michaelson. “…UBH has an ENERGY STAR score of 99/100 which means we outperform 99% of similar buildings nationwide. We prevent 1628 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year which is equivalent of removing 349 cars off the road.” Congratulations to all of the UBH Engineering staff for their outstanding achievement.
