U.S. Marshals caught up to a Moffat County man on the run. Craig Press reports that Moffat County resident Rick Barnes had a bench warrant out for his failure to file a consent of surety in early July. Hewas previously arrested August 6th, 2019 on felony charges of sexual assault, and sexual as sault on a child by one in a position of trust, and struck a plea deal. As part of the plea agreement Barnes was required by law to file a consent of surety because the rescheduled sentencing hearing and the cancellation of the trial. His failure to do so appears to be a result of him going on the run. He was arrested in Pawhuska, Oklahoma by the United States Marshals. “It was a diligent effort by our investigation section, led by Lt. Chip McIntyre and Investigator Gary Nichols,” Moffat County Sheriff KC Hume said. “They were consistently engaged with the U.S. Marshal’s service, which ultimately led to Marshals locating and apprehending Mr. Barnes.” Barnes will be facing 20 to 25 years in prison.
