Two Arrested In Vernal Following Colorado Hit-And-Run

Colorado State Patrol confirmed the arrest of two men in Vernal, Utah, connected to a fatal hit-and-run that happened in Colorado’s Mesa County in the early morning hours of August 24th. A Denver 7 news report shares that 48-year-old Aaron Mackinnon was taken into custody in Vernal and is charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. 44-year-old Rusty Vogt was also arrested and is charged with felony accessory. Mackinnon and Vogt were extradited to Mesa County. The crash took place on Highway 139 in which a man was sitting in the northbound lane of the roadway when he was struck and dragged 130 feet. The 35-year-old man was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Colorado State Patrol said the fatal hit-and-run happened around 2:12am on Monday and that the investigation is ongoing. No further details were given as to why the victim was sitting in the roadway.
