Responding to a call of a panhandler bothering multiple shoppers, a lieutenant with the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office helped put an end to a multi-state Bonnie and Clyde style crime spree this month. The lieutenant spoke with the woman and gave her a few dollars. “Things quickly took an unexpected turn,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “After receiving the money, the woman walked across the parking lot and climbed into a very expensive sports car driven by a young man who appeared to be waiting for her. Finding the situation a bit suspicious, the lieutenant ran the vehicle’s license plate. As it turns out, the car had been reported stolen out of Oregon under allegedly violent circumstances. By this time, the pair had begun to drive away, and a traffic stop was conducted.” 21-year-old Neo Gabrielsen and 21-year-old Fallon Frederick were both arrested. Drug paraphernalia containing fentanyl was located in the vehicle. The investigation received quite the boost during the search of the vehicle. “In what may be one of the more helpful pieces of evidence we’ve seen in a while, Fallon Frederick had also been documenting their cross-country adventure in the stolen vehicle in a personal diary,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “In it, she described how the pair traveled the country taking advantage of kind-hearted people by begging for money to fund their criminal road trip.”
