Today and tomorrow are the days the DWR native cutthroat trout restoration project is taking place within the Carter and Sheep Creek drainages. The East Fork of Carter Creek is closed August 17th and 18th while the treatment is run. “The closure is necessary to allow ground crews to work safely in and around the aforementioned waters without harm or injury to the public,” shares officials. “All use of the water (wading, fishing, swimming) within the project area will be prohibited. This rotenone treatment is to rid all species of fish in those streams, ponds and tributaries to restore native Colorado River cutthroat trout.” The treatment area includes East Fork Carter Creek, as well as the associated unnamed tributaries.
