TriCounty Health Resumes Use of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

TriCounty Health has resumed the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine for those who want it. A Monday press release announced that on April 23rd, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) panel recommended that the pause on that vaccine be lifted. The main change is that the CDC panel recommended that a warning label be added to warn of a rare risk of a blood clotting disorder. As of Monday, TriCounty Health has resumed offering the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to those who want it. “After thorough review, the FDA and CDC have lifted the J&J COVID vaccine pause. They recommend that vaccinations should resume,” shares TriCounty Health Officer, Kirk Benge. “It found that the benefit outweighs the risk with only 15 people of 8 million being diagnosed with blood clots after having received this vaccine. The odds of dying from COVID-19 is greater than the odds of contracting blood clots after receiving this vaccine.” The COVID Shootout drive through vaccine clinic continues this week Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. Beginning May 3rd, the vaccine distribution will switch to in-clinic appointments..
