TriCounty Health Department has an update for those interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot. For now, not everyone is eligible but many will qualify under the current qualifications. For those who have received a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following are eligible for a booster shot at least 6 months after their initial vaccinations: those who are 65 years and older or are at least 18 years old and live in a long-term care setting, have an underlying medical condition, or work or live in a high-risk setting. Those who received a Johnson & Johnson vaccine can receive a booster shot at least 2 months after the initial vaccination. Deciding which booster to get is a matter of personal preference and not dependent on what vaccine was originally received.
