TriCounty Health announced on Friday that the TriCounty Board of Health is now in search of a new Health Officer. The announcement shares that Jordan Mathis, the current Health Officer, is stepping down at the end of 2020, after serving for six years. Mathis has accepted an offer to be the Health Officer for the Bear River Health Department, serving Cache, Rich, and Box Elder Counties. “As a board, we appreciate Jordan’s service to our communities, and we wish him well in his new pursuits,” says Dr. John Mathis, TriCounty Board of Health Chairman. “We are looking forward to filling this position with a highly qualified and competent person, who can step in and continue to lead the department in its COVID-19 response, and into the future.” The local health officer is hired by, and reports to, the local board of health. Qualifications for a local health officer are spelled out in state rule. During his time in the Uintah Basin, Jordan has served on multiple committees and boards including the Vernal Active and Healthy Committee, Duchesne County Responsible Development Committee, and Mountainlands Community Health Center Board. His service on the Dino Trails Committee, however, has been especially significant. “Without Jordan Mathis, the DinoTrails Committee would not be what it is today,” shares fellow Dino Trails Committee member Aaron Averett. “His support has led to multiple grants and an organization that continues to support the efforts of the DinoTrails Committee. What he has done here will benefit our community for years to come.” Evans Family Media joins the community in thanking Mr. Mathis for his leadership and service to the people in the Uintah Basin and wish him future success!
