The Uintah Basin, as with many places in the West, has been dealing with some very real problems with pollutants in the air because of wildfires. In a bit of refreshing news the TriCounty Health Department announced through a press release that they are a recipient of the UCAIR grant. This grant is presented by the board of Directors of the Utah Clean Air Partnership that will allow the health department to install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at both the Vernal and Roosevelt locations. One of the main reasons Utah has the EV Station Project is to help clean its air. The current network of stations includes three charging stations in Vernal, one in Duchesne, One in Dinosaur, Colorado and four in Evanston, Wyoming. Environmental Health Director, Darrin Brown, states, “Electric vehicle charging stations have been difficult to find in the Uintah Basin. Without the charging stations, it is difficult to justify buying an electric vehicle. The need is greatest in the Roosevelt area, where vehicles may need a charge to reach Vernal or Heber. It is known that electric vehicles improve air quality. Our goal is to make it feasible to purchase one.”
