The trial of a Uintah County man in a case of infant homicide is now underway in 8th District Court. On August 26th, 2014, emergency crews were dispatched to the home of Chad Rogers on a report that an infant male was not breathing. Investigators were told the infant had been choking when his body went limp. The infant was transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center and later to Primary Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Utah State Medical Center determined the cause of death was forced trauma to the head, causing a brainstem injury and hemorrhaging in the brain. Rogers was booked on charges of child abuse homicide. The jury trial began January 23rd and is scheduled through this week.
