The Uintah Conference Center main ballroom will be transformed this week into a winter wonderland as 40 trees are decorated for this weekend’s Trees For Charity event. While there are multiple ways to help charities, including the tree auction and silent auction items, visitors to the tree view can also purchase limited edition commemorative ornaments starting Wednesday during the tree setup. Event chairman Josh Harbison starts thinking about the ornament design in March or April of each year, trying to come up with something unique and new. “Last year was fun,” explains Harbison, “because we used names of Charities from past years. This year we did something fun with Santas and snowmen.” Funds raised from the ornaments goes to help the event fund but anything raised above their costs, which are generally kept very low, is donated to a local charity like the food pantry. All are invited to attend the tree view on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving starting at 11am. Tickets for Monday’s Auction Gala can be purchased at the Vernal Chamber office.
