A traffic stop in Duchesne County this month ended in arrest. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer noticed a vehicle with a headlamp and tail light out and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the strong odor of marijuana and alcohol. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle but it was determined that he was not currently impaired. Approximately 84 grams of marijuana was located as well as a scale and paraphernalia. Based on the large amount of marijuana located with a scale, 34-year-old Anthony Sims was arrested and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and several infractions. Court records show that Sims was initially ordered to be held without bail.
