Some of the state’s most recognizable Republicans gathered for a rally on Tuesday inside the Capitol building, urging Utahns to vote for Donald Trump. Senator Orrin Hatch, and Representatives Rob Bishop and Chris Stewart were among those who spoke to the crowd of Trump supporters. Earlier
Tuesday morning
in an interview with KVEL, Republican Party representative Joni Crane responded to Evan McMullin’s visit to Vernal last week. Crane says she believes the goal of the McMullin campaign is to split the Republican Party and build a new platform. She also emphasized that even if McMullin won in Utah, that isn’t going to stop Clinton from getting the electoral votes. Crane said that even if you don’t support Trump as an individual he can still be an instrument for good and you can support the Republican platform which is good. While many top Utah Republicans announced their loyalty to Trump during Tuesday’s event, others, including Governor Gary Herbert, Representative Mia Love and Senator Mike Lee, have stated that they will not vote for him.
