Spring cleaning applies to the great outdoors and the administration at the Blue Bench Landfill has a specific request for the public. “Among the most troublesome items received at the Blue Bench Landfill are the empty plastic bags, such as the kind brought home from the grocery store,” shares landfill Manager Hal Giles. “These bags, after arrival at the landfill, often become airborne in windy conditions and litter the ground downwind from the landfill site. It is very labor intensive to pick up these wind-blown bags.” Customers are urged to prevent this problem by tying the empty plastic bags in a knot or filling them with at least some waste before tying them shut and disposing of them. This is good advice for anyone throwing away plastic bags. Duchesne County’s Free Dump Week is coming up and running from April 22nd through the 29th.
