As the East Fork Fire continues in Duchesne County, an important message has been shared with the public. “Due to the use of helicopters to monitor the fires in the area, a temporary flight restriction is in place,” shares Ashley National Forest. “This will restrict the use of drones within the fire area. Please do not use drones. If you fly, we can’t,” they shared. The lightning caused East Fork Fire started on August 21st and has burned 3,457 acres. As of Wednesday, it was 18 percent contained. On Tuesday part of the fire received a dusting of snow overnight. Crews have worked to fall and chip hazardous trees to help with visibility around the roads going into Upper Stillwater and Moon Lake area in order to protect the area from fire in the future. Starting Wednesday morning, some campgrounds reopened including Yellowpine, Miner’s Gulch, and Rock Creek. The road closure has been moved to just above the Yellowpine campground. Those camping are asked to stay off the trail that parallels the South Fork Rock Creek to access the Upper Stillwater Reservoir. The Phinney Lake Fire continues to burn, is at 182 acres and is in the current closure area.
