What does technology advances and education opportunities in the Uintah Basin have to do with the current real estate market? Perhaps not too much but the presentations made during Tuesday’s Vernal Chamber luncheon had at least one strong correlation. Tyler Rasmussen with Strata Networks gave a report sharing that Strata’s goal is to have fiber optics available to the entire Uintah Basin. Strata has partnered with USU and UBTech to ensure they have a well trained workforce. USU continues to build and improve its IT program locally with a goal to make it so people can stay in the Uintah Basin and work remotely. This very topic was mentioned during another presentation during the Chamber luncheon. Realtor Sonja Norton gave a report on local real estate stating that it is currently a seller’s market in the Uintah Basin. Norton explained that many buyers are drawn to the area because the technology is largely in place for them to work remotely.
