After a holiday break, Team Uintah is back to recognizing those who go the extra mile to support local schools. This week Team Uintah is honoring Senator Kevin Van Tassell and Representative Scott Chew as strong supporters of the Uintah School District. Both the senator and representative are lifelong residents of the Uintah Basin. During their work in the legislature, Senator Van Tassell sponsored the American Indian and Native American /Native Alaskan Education State Plan which established a grant that supports Eagle View Elementary’s effort to recruit and retain teachers. Just last year, Representative Chew worked with Uintah High School students to teach them how to run a bill through the Legislature that was ultimately signed into law. The Team Uintah program launched this school year as a way to unify the community as there are so many involved in the common effort to ensure that the children in the Uintah School District receive the best education possible.
