A 73-year-old Wyoming man who walked into the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office a year ago saying he needed to confess to a crime, pleaded No Contest on July 24th in Sweetwater County District Court in Green River. Cowboy State Daily reports that Randy Jay Nelsen told detectives that he had molested a girl years earlier. Law enforcement soon after interviewed the victim, now an adult, who confirmed the abuse and Nelsen was charged with at least 2 counts of Sexual Assault for the abuse that took place between 1989 and 1992. On January 8th, Nelsen was booked into and released from Sweetwater County Detention Center. A plea agreement was signed on Thursday in which Nelsen pleaded No Contest to 1 count of Sexual Assault with a recommended sentence of 4 to 5 years in prison. Nelsen’s sentencing will take place after an eye surgery he’s scheduled to have in mid-August.
