Suspect In Double Homicide Dies From Self Inflicted Injuries In Green River WY

The suspect in a double homicide that occurred in the late-night hours on June 23rd has died of self-inflicted injuries in Wyoming’s Sweetwater County. Officers with Green River Police had been dispatched to a disturbance where a subject had pointed a pistol at the reporting party. As officers responded to the call, a second call, related to the first, came in of an active shooter at the Embassy Tavern Bar in Green River. When officers arrived at the Embassy Tavern they found two persons dead and one wounded. The wounded person was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Witnesses identified the suspect as 51-year-old Douglas Wolf of Green River and the manhunt began. Agencies, including the FBI, assisted throughout the night and the community was informed that the armed suspect was at large, believed to be hiding in an industrial area. Tactical teams, including the assistance of K9 units, located Wolf in an unoccupied industrial building on Mesa Drive north of Rock Springs. He was alive and in possession of the firearm. With the arrival of officers Wolf [fatally shot] himself. Tactical officers moved in and secured the weapon, then immediately began life-saving measures,” shares police. “The suspect was taken into custody and transported by ambulance to the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, where he was officially pronounced deceased shortly after 11:00am [on June 24th].” No shots were fired by law enforcement during the encounter, however, the investigation of the shooting in this portion of the incident was turned over to The Department of Criminal Investigation for further investigation.” It was a scary night for the residents of north Rock Springs as law enforcement conducted the search. Agencies included Green River Police Department, Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Spring Police Department, Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigations, Combined Communication Center, Combined Tactical and Negotiation Teams, BLM Rangers, and the Combined Bomb Team and Disposal Team provided robots used for entry.
