Steinaker State Park Update on Steinaker Reservoir

by | Aug 24, 2018 | News | 0 comments

A local reservoir is being drained as repairs are scheduled for its dam. Steinaker State Park reports that the Steinaker Reservoir water level is at about the 10 percent mark and contractors are almost ready to start pumping water out.  The boat ramp is still available to launch from and is expected to last until the water is down to about the 2 or 3 percent mark. There continues to be no limit on any fish species though a valid fishing license is still required. The water level is expected to drop approximately another 15 vertical feet.  It is expected the reservoir will be re-filled the Fall of 2019 after the dam modification has been completed. Water officials have stated that the project cost of $17.68 million dollars is less than was originally anticipated.
