Steinaker State Park is celebrating International Dark Sky Day with 2 events this month and of course the public is invited. Join park staff on Friday, April 24th, at 8pm at the beach access area for a presentation on the importance of dark skies followed by a viewing of the stars, planets, and constellations. Then on Saturday, April 25th, from 9 to 11am, come down to the boat parking restroom area to glance at the sun through a solar-filtered telescope while learning more about this special star. They will also be making UV bead bracelets. The events are free with a park pass or with the camping fee for those that stay overnight. Steinaker State Park was designated an International Dark Sky Park in 2018, making it the first in the Uintah Basin and one of the first state parks to receive a designation in the State.
