There has been at least one arrest in a case of theft from August in Duchesne City. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the beds of two trucks parked at the Best Western Hotel were burglarized with the estimated value amounting to $5,355 from one truck and $6,311 from the other truck. A free-standing stone sculpture, tripods, hand tools, and a circular saw were among the items of value listed. Video footage was obtained that showed a truck drive up to the vehicles and at least 2 individuals involved in the theft. 43-year-old Shawn Gregory Davis was identified as a suspect and the stolen sculpture was found hidden at his home. Davis was placed into custody on September 3rd but was admitted to the hospital on claims that he was having heart attack symptoms similar to what he had been treated for a few days earlier. Court documents listed George Swasey and an unnamed female as those also involved in taking the stolen items. Davis was placed back into custody while at the hospital after making statements to another individual that he was going to make a run for it as he had faked the heart attack to get out of jail. He was booked into Duchesne County Jail and is charged with 2 counts of 2nd Degree Felony Theft and Misdemeanor Burglary of a Vehicle.
