A case of speeding quickly escalated during a January pursuit and charges have now been filed. According to the Probable Cause Statement, on or about January 17, in Uintah County, a vehicle was observed speeding 84mph in a posted 60mph zone. The officer turned on their overhead lights but the vehicle did not stop. Rather, it continued to flee at speeds up to 90mph. The vehicle continued making dangerous U-turns and then turned the lights off and continued on a back road into a field where the vehicle lost its front bumper. The vehicle turned into a driveway and crashed into a parked vehicle. The driver exited and then fled on foot and was observed running behind a trailer. The man then came from behind the trailer and was initially following officer’s orders before trying to force his way into the trailer before being arrested. The vehicle the defendant was driving was inventoried prior to being impounded and a container with suspected marijuana was located in the center console. At the jail, the defendant submitted to a PBT, which showed positive for alcohol though he was court ordered not to consume or possess alcohol. 45-year-old George Anthony Salinas was recently charged with 3rd Degree Felony Failure to Stop at Command of Police, Reckless Driving, as well as other drug and alcohol related charges.
