Uintah County is one step closer to the transition to consolidate three special service districts into one. One delay came from the Lieutenant Governor’s Office having an error on the certificate of creation but last week the Uintah County Commission received and approved the revised Certificate of Creation. This means that the creation of Special Service District #1 is official and the effective date is retroactive to July 26th, 2021. The new special service district dates back to a meeting on September 14th, 2020, when the Uintah County Commission met to consider making changes to the special service districts to address the significant decline in mineral lease funds. The Commission passed a motion to create one new special service district to be over Recreation, Transportation, and Impact Mitigation. Now a year later, the Uintah County Commission has made appointments to the board for Special Service District #1 and the act of combining the three districts into one will continue moving forward. Eventually the three directors will be replaced by one director.
