Work continues on an important road project north of Vernal and travelers are urged to consider construction before traveling through the area. The Utah Department of Transportation completed the tie-in for the south portion of the US-191 Realignment Project and now work will begin at the north end. “UDOT will reduce US-191 to a single one-way lane near milepost 368, as part of the US-191 Realigned project on August 11th,” shares the announcement. “The closure is expected to last about four days when the new alignment is opened to two-way traffic. This closure will help facilitate work to integrate the new US-191 alignment with the existing road. The road will be reduced to a single one-way alternating lane for about 0.1 miles. Flaggers will be stationed at the top and bottom of the closure. Motorists are advised to stay alert and remain cautious through these areas as heavy equipment enters and exits the work zone.” Recreational motorists are encouraged to avoid delays by avoiding the route. The US-191 Realignment Project has replaced a 2.6 mile switchback portion of the highway to a new alignment with fewer turns and standard horizontal curves.
